The pipeline of comfy air remains wide open, supplying the area with a steady supply of mild, dry air. Highs today were only in the low 80s despite sunny skies, not an easy feat in August.

The dry air and clear skies will make for a chilly summer morning with lows in the 50s.

A highway of cloud makers will supply yet another wave of cloud cover Thursday that will make for partly sunny conditions at times. Temperatures will remain mild with highs in the low 80s.

Friday will be our transition day as we flip back into summer mode. We won’t have to put up with high humidity Friday, but the afternoon will be warm as readings get close to 90°.

The heat will build back in this weekend along with some humidity. Expect highs in the low to mid-90s with rain chances remaining very zero. There may be a chance for some rain to slip around the summer ridge building in, but these rain chances will tend to be off to the northeast, closer to the St. Louis area.

Hot and humid weather will hang around into the first half of next week with rain chances remaining low. Rain chances may perk up with a fading front dropping into the area Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain opportunities will increase with a stronger cold front that’s expected to arrive sometime between Thursday and Friday of next week. This will also send the summer heat packing again.
