    Republic man pleads guilty in DWI crash that killed 3 in Springfield

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A man from Republic has entered a guilty plea stemming from a wrong-way DWI crash that led to the death of three people in Springfield in 2023.

    67-year-old Steven Allan Jordan was set to go to trial for his 12 felonies related to the crash starting April 21, 2025 , before pleading guilty on Tuesday.

    Jordan was charged with the following, according to court records:

    • Three counts of second-degree murder.
    • Three counts of DWI resulting in the death of another.
    • One count of habitual DWI.
    • Two counts of DWI resulting in serious physical injury.
    • Three counts of DWI resulting in physical injury.

    Jordan’s attorney says his three counts of DWI resulting in the death of another will be dismissed at sentencing.

    On Jan. 20, 2023, Jordan’s white Dodge pickup was traveling on the wrong side of James River Freeway when his truck collided with a Ford Expedition carrying eight members of a Texas family who were coming to southwest Missouri for a funeral.

    Three of the passengers — Sharon Farmer, Ukena Farmer and Stephen Figgins — died in the crash, while the five others were taken to the hospital with various injuries.

    Jordan later confessed to police that he was drunk when the crash occurred. Jordan’s blood later tested positive for alcohol and drugs and his blood alcohol concentration was measured at .211%, well above Missouri’s legal limit of .08%.

    Jordan’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m.
