    Monett man accused of assault arrested

    UPDATE 8/27/2024 — A man accused of assault and attempted theft has been taken into custody.

    According to the Monett Police Department (MPD), Laane M. Sneed was arrested at around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 27 on multiple warrants.

    MPD also says Sneed is no longer connected to the assault and incident involving attempted thefts from vendor booths at a craft fair.

    MONETT, Mo. — The Monett Police Department (MPD) is searching for a suspect accused of assault and stealing overnight on Sunday, August 25.

    According to MPD, they received a report about an incident on the 400 block of Front Street at around 5:55 a.m. Sunday.

    The victim told police they were monitoring a craft fair when the suspect assaulted them while trying to steal from the vendor booths. The suspect then left the scene on a bicycle.

    The victim had non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.

    MPD officers are now searching for Laane M. Sneed who is believed to be involved in the incident and they also say that there is no danger to the public.

    Sneed is described as a 6’01” 185 lb white male who has brown hair, brown eyes and sleeve tattoos on both arms.

    MPD’s investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident or Sneed’s whereabouts is urged to contact the MPD at 417-235-4241, option 2.
