FEMA Disaster Recovery Center to temporarily open in Cassville

BARRY COUNTY, Mo. — A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will open in Cassville on Sept. 9 to give Missourians impacted by storms that swept across the Ozarks in May a chance to talk with recovery specialists.

According to a press release from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), from Sept. 9 – 14, the DRC will be located at First Baptist Church’s Family Life Center (504 West St., Cassville). The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Homeowners, renters and self-employed business owners in 10 counties who were impacted by storms May 19-27 can visit any DRC for help. The impacted counties include:

• Barry
• Butler
• Carter
• Howell
• New Madrid
• Ripley
• Scott
• Shannon
• Stoddard
• Texas

Survivors are encouraged to apply with FEMA before visiting a DRC to make their visit more efficient but can visit a center for help filing their initial application. Applications can be submitted online , by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or by using the FEMA app.

DRC’s are a one-stop shop for people who have applied with FEMA and need to provide additional documentation or have questions about their cases.

FEMA says representatives from the U.S. Small Busines Administration (SBA) will also be present to help people apply for disaster loans to assist in funding recovery efforts.
