Texas woman dies after tree falls on UTV in Barry County

BARRY COUNTY, Mo. — One person has died and another was injured after a tree fell on a UTV one mile northwest of Shell Knob, Missouri on Saturday, September 7.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) crash report states that at 4:12 p.m., two people were occupying a 2021 ASIS 500 Side by Side traveling north on Stallion Bluff Road when a tree fell and struck the vehicle.

80-year-old Penny A. Hons from Richmond, Texas died at the scene. The male driver was taken by EMS to Mercy Hospital in Cassville with moderate injuries.

This is the 72nd fatal accident in MSHP Troop D in 2024.
