CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — FEMA has opened up a joint Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Cassville, Missouri to provide free services for those impacted by severe storms from May 19-27, 2024.

The DRC is located at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center at 504 West Street in Cassville. It will be open this week on Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. before it permanently closes.

According to FEMA, disaster survivors will be able to have one-on-one talks with disaster recovery specialists, receive help to apply for low-interest disaster loans with representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), ask questions about the status of their cases and more.

“If someone has not gone through that ever in their life, then it’s going to be difficult for them because they have no idea what to do or where to get started,” said FEMA spokesperson Debra Young. “But here at the center, this will be a good place to start if you haven’t already.

The DRC in Cassville is open to Barry County residents and residents from Butler, Carter, Howell, New Madrid, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, Stoddard and Texas counties affected by May’s storms.

FEMA encourages residents affected by the storms to apply with FEMA before visiting the DRC, but DRC staff can help residents apply for FEMA or present additional documentation. Residents can also apply online at disasterassistance.gov , on the phone at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or through the FEMA app .
