Tuesday, September 10 forecast: All eyes still on Francine

    By Jamie Warriner,

Aside from a veil of smoke in the upper air, today was nice. The air had that early September feel as readings climbed into the 80s but without the stickiness of summer heat. It was also another cloudless day with no hint of rain. This is becoming more of a concern as the area continues to dry out and drought conditions begin to expand across the Ozarks.

Look for more dry and quiet weather tonight into Wednesday. Humidity levels will slowly climb as moisture builds in on southeast winds. This will lead to a warmer night tonight and a few afternoon clouds tomorrow.

Hurricane Francine will be churning north into Louisiana Wednesday with the remnants set to bring rain to parts of the Ozarks Thursday into Friday.

The outer fringes of Francine will come with an increase in clouds Thursday with some rain spreading in from the southeast by Thursday evening.

Dry air west of Francine will lead to a sharp cutoff in rainfall with little to no rain west of Hwy. 65. Meanwhile areas to the east will pick up over an inch. The good news is that flash flooding and severe weather are off the table.

The leftover storm system will also make for cooler and cloudier weather. Temperatures are likely to run in the upper 70s to low 80s Thursday and Friday.

Lingering shower chances will remain over the Eastern Ozarks through the weekend with areas to the west clearing out. This will result in a return to warmer temperatures as we end the weekend and head into next week.

Looks like no rain again for me by Beaver Dam, only 2 inches in over 3 months.
