SAN ANTONIO, Tex–2024 has been one of the best seasons in the history of the Springfield Cardinals franchise.

The Cardinals won the Texas League North first half title and has made the playoffs.

And Wednesday night, Springfield made it official with its franchise record 78th victory of the season.

Tink Hence started for the Cardinals but completed only one inning before leaving the game with an undisclosed injury.

He has been battling a back injury the last few weeks.

The Cardinals scored a run on a sac fly and another on a fielder’s choice.

But that was enough, Matt Svanson closed out the ninth with his 26th save of the season.

And Springfield wins 2-1, setting that single season record.
