Kansas man dies in head-on crash with tractor-trailer

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — A man from Kansas has died in a head-on crash with a semi-truck near Carthage.

A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) says the crash happened around 2 a.m. on Sept. 12, on I-49 five miles north of Carthage.

Lane J. Antenen, 62, of Bazine, Kansas, was northbound in the southbound lanes of the interstate when his pickup truck hit a Volvo tractor-trailer head-on. Antenen died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

This is Troop D’s 75th fatality for 2024.
