Friday, September 13 forecast: Cooler with any rain coming to an end

The leftovers from Franince did provide rain for some, but like we’ve said from the beginning it would mostly fall in the eastern Ozarks. Dry air canceled out any rain trying to move to the west.

Showers will linger this morning to the east of Springfield and Highway 65. Friday night football will be mostly dry across the Ozarks, but a stray shower may remain in Eastern Missouri this evening.

Francine will drift southeast on Saturday generating stray showers from time to time in East Missouri and East Arkansas. Saturday will largely be dry with temperatures warming to the low to mid-80s.

What happens with the remaining circulation from Francine on Sunday is not definite. Some data suggests the circulation stays southeast in which case we would stay dry. Other data suggests Francine will come back northwest and bring another chance for scattered rain. That being said, scattered rain is possible again on Sunday along and east of Highway 65.

We start to see a different pattern from what we’ve seen all summer develop next week. Low pressure will develop in the West and high pressure will develop in the East. This will lead to warmer temperatures in the mid to upper 80s for a couple of days next week.

Next week is organizing to stay dry with the occasional stray shower possible. A better chance for rain may be coming for next weekend. The latest data is consistent in suggesting a cold front and rainmaker for next weekend. This would be great for the Ozarks, but things can obviously change over the next 8-10 days.
