Nevada, Mo. man dies in St. Clair County crash

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mo. — A crash between a motorcycle and a minivan that had an equipment failure in St. Clair County on Saturday, September 14 resulted in the death of a man from Nevada, Missouri.

A crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) states that the crash occurred at 4:45 p.m. on Highway 54 one mile west of Collins.

MSHP says an eastbound Chrysler Town & Country minivan experienced an equipment failure, causing the vehicle to cross into the other side of the roadway. The minivan then crashed into a westbound Harley Davidson, ejecting 63-year-old Jesse E. Murray from the motorcycle. The minivan continued off the highway and hit a fence.

Murray was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and a juvenile occupant in the minivan were taken by ambulance to Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar with minor injuries.

This is the 76th fatality for MSHP Troop D in 2024.
