CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — A school bus driver has been arrested for allegedly being drunk and driving a bus filled with children.

According to court documents, Brett Allen Emehiser, 44, was arrested for 20 counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

On Sept. 13, at 4:27 p.m., Missouri State Highway Patrol was dispatched to a report of a possible intoxicated driver at Route EE and Boot Circle in Camden County. When troopers arrived on the scene, witnesses told them Emehiser almost hit other cars and was running off the roadway.

Troopers claimed Emehiser was slurring as he spoke and nearly fell off the bus trying to speak to them.

Emehiser failed several sobriety tests including reciting the alphabet and counting backwards. Emehiser’s breath resulted in a blood alcohol content of .180.

The judge denied his bond and Emehiser is being held in the Camden County Jail.

Camdenton School District Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jason Price said that Emehiser was currently stationed at Hurricane Deck Elementary, with shuttle services on that same bus for older students.
