The word is getting out: Missouri lakes are where it’s at. With the dog days of summer well in the rear-view mirror, fall is a perfect time to be on the water fishing and Table Rock Lake has been named as one of the “ 9 Best Fall Fishing Destinations for 2024.

FishingBooker.com calls Table Rock Lake, “…a cool-looking, fish-filled body of water.” They aren’t wrong.

Spreading across two states, Table Rock Lake is approximately 43,000 acres. The man-made lake was completed in 1958. Since then, the lake has become a premier angling destination for bass, crappie, and catfish.

Table Rock Lake has three main tributaries feeding into it, the James River, Long Creek, and Kings River. This makes for an ideal habitat for a whole host of freshwater fish.

In addition to Table Rock Lake, eight other fishing hot spots made the list.

    • Cape Canaveral, Florida
    • Jersey Shore, New Jersey
    • Anna Maria Island, Florida
    • Lake Charles, Louisiana
    • Door County, Wisconsin
    • Clear Lake, Iowa
    • Flathead Lake, Montana
    • Clear Lake, California

A very good place to catch crappie in the fall and winter is the park below Ha Ha Tonka. My wife and I go there and limit out quickly. The crappie come into that area because of the warmer water coming from that spring.
