NIXA, Mo. — The City of Nixa announced Monday that they are planning on building a new headquarters for the Nixa Police Department (NPD) at a new location.

According to the city, they determined via a cost analysis that building a new police headquarters at another location was the best option for the NPD.

The city purchased five acres of land off Highway 14 and Leann Drive for the new facility. The new headquarters will be one story tall and be around 22,000 square feet with room for future expansion.

The city says the construction project will break ground in early 2025 and is projected to be completed approximately 14 months later in 2026. A 3/4 cent sales tax increase passed by Nixa residents in April 2023 will help fund the project.

“We are happy to have worked with thoughtful engineers and mindful city leaders who helped us find the best use of taxpayers’ money with a solution that keeps us on budget,” the City of Nixa said in a statement.
