EVERTON, Mo. — The City of Everton has issued a boil advisory on Monday, September 30.

City officials say they will be taking samples to the Springfield Health Department for testing to see when to lift the boil water order.

The City recommends residents boil water for three minutes before use and only use boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, food preparation, food consumption and diluting fruit juices. Water for bathing or handwashing does not generally need to be boiled, and bottled water can be used as an alternative.

The City of Everton also recommends the following:

    • Disinfect dishes and food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water containing one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water
    • Don’t use ice from an automatic icemaker or any ice made with un-boiled water. Instead, remake ice cubes with boiled water or buy ice
    • Supervise children while bathing or in backyard pools to ensure no one ingests unboiled water.
    • If you have cuts or severe rashes, consult your physician
