Polk County man dies after his motorcycle hits a deer

HICKORY COUNTY, Mo. — A man from Flemington, Missouri, has died after running into a deer on the road one mile north of Elkton Tuesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) crash report, 65-year-old Clarence E. Garver was traveling north on Highway 83 on a 1999 Honda Shadow motorcycle at around 9 a.m. when his vehicle struck a deer. The impact of the crash made the motorcycle travel off the right side of the highway, ejecting Garver.

Garver was pronounced deceased at the scene at 9:44 a.m. His next of kin have been notified of his passing.

This is the 85th fatality in MSHP Troop D in 2024.
