Final day for voter registration in Missouri

GREENE COUNTY, Mo. — The November election is just 27 days away and today is the last day to register to vote in Missouri.

Voters can register online, in person or by mail. However, registrations must be complete or postmarked by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9. This deadline is especially important for first-time voters in the state.

“For anyone who has not been registered in Greene County or another county here in the state of Missouri, if you’ve never registered before today is the day to get registered, need to register by 5 p.m. either here in Greene County or the county you live in,” said Shane Schoeller, Greene County Clerk. “Just make sure that if you’re doing that in person, you go to the courthouse or here in Greene County you can go to any public library here in Greene County.”

Schoeller says although Missouri does not require you to re-register if you move, you do need to change your address. Changing it ahead of time can help make for a smoother election day.

Schoeller says it’s also important to know what will be on your ballot before voting to make things quicker at the polls in November.

You can check your registration status on the Secretary of State website.

If you can’t make it to the polls in November absentee voting is going on right now and no excuse absentee voting will start two weeks before the election.
