Springfield police investigating overnight homicide at parking garage

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — One person is dead and multiple people are injured after a shooting near Heer’s Parking Garage on Campbell Avenue overnight Sunday.

According to a press release from the Springfield Police Department (SPD), officers were sent to 320 N. Campbell Ave. after receiving reports of multiple people being shot in the area at 2:12 a.m.

After arriving at the scene, officers found a man with gunshot wounds at the intersection of Campbell and Olive and two other men in a vehicle with gunshot wounds at the intersection of Cambell and McDaniel.

The three victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment. One of the victims — identified as 18-year-old Klayton Hagan from Springfield — died at the hospital.

SPD says its homicide detectives located all parties involved in the disturbance, but no arrests have been made as police continue to investigate the incident. The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office will decide on criminal charges after the investigation is complete.

This is Springfield’s 11th homicide investigation and 13th victim in 2024.
