MARION COUNTY, Ark. — Marion County officials are investigating a house fire after a person was found dead in the home.

Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) says that the county’s emergency 911 center received a report of a fully-involved residential fire on Marion County Road 3015 Monday evening. The Pyatt Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call and extinguished the fire, but later discovered a body inside the home.

The victim’s body was taken to the Marion County Coroner’s Office. The body will soon be transferred to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of the victim’s death. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

After conducting interviews at the scene, MCSO investigators learned that a resident complained about a faulty space heater in the home.

The Flippin Fire Department, Yellville Fire Department, Summit Fire Department, Bruno Fire Department and the Mountain Home Fire Marshal assisted at the scene of the fire.
