LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — A married couple allegedly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of valuables as Las Vegas hosted the Super Bowl in February, with one theft involving a popular singer, according to documents obtained by 8 News Now Investigators at Nexstar’s KLAS.

Viviana Hernandez and Leonardo Munoz face felony theft charges connected to the reported incidents in the days before Super Bowl 58, records said.

Detectives allege Hernandez and Munoz, who are married and have California addresses, conspired to steal from several people the week of the game. Police suspect other people were involved, though they are not named in the documents.

On Feb. 9, just days before the Super Bowl, a person from the gaming company Draft Kings reported that tens of thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment was stolen from the Mandalay Bay, documents said. Cameras, lenses, and other equipment were reported missing from a stage.

That same day, another person reported a similar theft involving video equipment stolen from the Aria Resort & Casino, documents said. The person reporting the theft had an Apple AirTag, a small GPS tracking device, in one of the bags, which showed it was at another hotel.

Video surveillance showed a man, later identified as Hernandez, in the room “and that he was looking for something specific,” documents said.

The same day, several people, including Jason Desrouleax — better known by his stage name, Jason Derulo — reported a theft from Area15, the performance venue west of the Las Vegas Strip, documents said. In that case, the stolen property amounted to more than $300,000, police said.

Derulo and several others performed at the venue for “The Legends Party,” Area15’s website said. The group later found items missing from a dressing room. The items included hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, watches, and cash. Metro police were not notified about the theft until after the room was cleaned, police said.

On Feb. 10, a surveillance operator recognized Hernandez and Munoz at another Strip property and arrested them. Investigators also determined the AirTag in one of the stolen bags was in the couple’s hotel.

Metro police later found more stolen property during a traffic stop, they said.

Police arrested Hernandez on a warrant earlier this month. She posted a surety bond and was due to return to court in November. Several warrants remained active Thursday for Munoz’s arrest, records said.
