PULASKI COUNTY, Mo. – A man being chased by law enforcement on Interstate 44 Saturday morning crashed his motorcycle and died from his injuries, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

At approximately 11:09 a.m., 33-year-old Nathan L. Jeffries of Montreal, Missouri, was driving a 2003 Suzuki GSX1300RK motorcycle on westbound I-44 as he was pursued by the Saint Robert Police Department.

According to the MSHP crash report, near mile marker 157, Jeffries’ motorcycle approached a pursuing 2017 Ford Escape at high speeds. While trying to avoid crashing into the Ford, the motorcycle skidded and hit the vehicle’s rear. The impact caused the motorcycle to overturn, ejecting Jeffries.

The motorcycle continued off the left side of the roadway and struck the cable barrier. The Ford came to a stop on the highway’s right shoulder.

The Pulaski County Ambulance District transported Jeffries to Fort Leonard Wood Hospital, but Jeffries eventually died from his injuries. The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries but was taken to Phelps Health by Dixon Ambulance.

This is the 29th fatality for MSHP Troop I in 2024.
