Round #1 down, another round of storms to go

Happy Friday!

Across the Ozarks, some are waking up from a dry night, while others saw an absolute deluge overnight. Early Friday morning there are flash flood warnings for Webster, Wright and Texas counties that will go through Friday morning.

The National Weather Service said areas in parts of Wright and Texas County saw a 6-hour rainfall rate making it a 100-year event. Radar estimates indicate a swatch of 6″+ near Mountain Grove and Cabool.

Friday will be sunny, hot, and muggy. Our Northern Arkansas counties will be under a heat advisory throughout Friday, our Missouri counties won’t be quite as warm.

The chance of rain will return later in the day. Currently, models are showing storms firing up around dinnertime time with more widespread rain moving in around bedtime. The chance of rain will continue overnight and into Saturday morning.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed us under a slight risk for severe weather Friday. The greatest threat with these storms will be strong winds and pockets of very heavy rainfall. I do think flash flooding will be an issue overnight and into Saturday morning.

We will clear out by Saturday afternoon and we will be in for a treat for back-to-school week. Temperatures will be in the low-to-mid 80’s, with lower humidity.
