Deer Valley hosts inaugural Mountain Pride event

Park City Council approves new e-mountain bike trail in split vote
E-mountain bikes are currently banned on Park City singletrack, unless riders are 65 and older, or have a mobility disability. Clark Ranch near U.S. Highway 40, which has around 5 miles of trails, is the only area in city limits where people can use a class I e-mountain bike outside of those restrictions.
Park City Council sees rough financial projections for five-acre site
On Thursday the council saw rough financial estimates based on six different scenarios for the site. The most expensive option with deeply affordable housing and 600 spots of underground parking, would require the city to cover a $74 million financial gap. However, there are minimal costs with a market-based approach, which would include less affordable units, more retail, and above-ground parking. The other options ranged in cost from $7 million to $62 million.

Mountainlands housing trust launches 24 affordable units in Silver Creek Village
The new all-affordable apartment complex filled up one day after it received final permitting, said Jason Glidden, Mountainlands’ new executive director. “I feel kind of guilty standing up here to be honest with you. I’m talking, when I really didn't have a lot to do with this project. So much of the work started five to six years ago, even longer,” Glidden said at the June 28 ribbon-cutting. “So it's been a long time coming. Summit County may still pursue housing authority separate from Park City

Park City Transit launching new bus route to service upper Park Meadows, Royal Street
The new 20 Tan bus route will provide residents in Upper Park Meadows and Royal Street with access to the Park City Transit network. The route starts at the Park City MARC and runs to Upper Park Meadows, down State route 224 to the Park City Mountain base. The route continues to Old Town Transit Center, Deer Valley’s Snow Park base, and then up Royal Street to Silver Lake.
Utah environmentalists worry about consequences of Supreme Court’s ‘good neighbor’ suspension
Under the 2015 EPA policy, also known as the “Good Neighbor” plan, states had to design their air quality plans considering how air currents could transfer air pollution from factories and power plants across state borders. The Supreme Court sided with Ohio, Indiana and West Virginia in challenging the rule. Utah had won its own legal challenge to the rule in a separate case in 2023, in which a court paused the rule in the state.
Park City School District seeking feedback on proposed no-cellphone policy
Based on conversations with staff, students and parents, the district determined cellphone use should be limited during school hours so students can stay engaged. This is reflected in a new proposed cellphone policy. If the policy is passed, students would not be allowed to use phones during school hours. Students would have to keep their devices in a secure place out of sight during the day, like in a locker, backpack or other storage container the school provides.
