Heber City Council to discuss affordable housing strategies
Amid growing housing pressures, Heber leaders will discuss ways to address the city’s lack of affordable housing during their meeting Tuesday evening. The conversations come after Councilmember Mike Johnston described the impact of the workforce housing shortage on the city in stark terms at last month’s Wasatch Back Economic Summit.
South Summit School District approves 4% pay raises for educators, staff
The South Summit Board of Education approved the increases last week and renewed contracts for top district leaders for another two years. Both Superintendent Greg Maughn and District Business Administrator Adam Robinson will see a 4% increase in their salaries. Maughn will earn $188,167 plus benefits and a monthly $675 vehicle stipend. Robinson’s pay will increase to $157,203 plus benefits.

Cold front prompts freeze watch for Wasatch Back

Woman arrested with more than 400 fentanyl pills in Summit County
Court documents show that on June 13 deputies stopped 36-year-old Crystal L. Guseman driving eastbound on I-80 just east of Kimball Junction for failure to stay in her lane. During the traffic stop, a deputy observed that Guseman was “nervous and had blood shot eyes.” She later admitted to having narcotics and the deputy discovered a “baggy concealed in her underwear that contained approximately 446 pills of fentanyl” as well as methamphetamine and a foil and straw used for ingesting drugs.
