Vehicle hits, kills bear on I-80 in Summit County, witness says
Morgan resident Rod Myers said he passed a black bear shortly after it had been hit on I-80 in northern Summit County. “The vehicle that hit it was gone,” he said. Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. More locals are visiting Utah ski areas
Ski Utah President and CEO Nathan Rafferty said one new trend is apparent when looking at visitor data for the state’s 15 ski resorts from winter 2023-2024. “We have seen just this last year an uptick in local visits,” Rafferty said. “There are two reasons. A lot of people are moving here to Utah, because of the great recreational opportunities. And then the sale of these multi-area passes. If you’ve got a pass in your pocket that’s good for multiple ski areas, you’re going to ski a ton.”

Legislature redistricted Utah ‘under cloak of darkness,’ Supreme Court rules unconstitutional
Utah voters passed a bipartisan citizen initiative called Proposition 4 in 2018 meant to ensure district maps didn’t favor one party over another. The initiative created an independent redistricting commission that would decide how electoral districts are drawn instead of politicians. At the time, 66% of Summit County voters supported Prop 4 while only 38% did in Wasatch County.
Family warns others after five bikes stolen outside Park City condo
Mountain bikes can be expensive at thousands of dollars a pop. “It took us 5.5 years to save up and get the bikes that fit our family,” said Lauren Kobza of Houston, whose family spends summertime in Park City. On July 6, all five of their bikes were stolen.
