GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. ( KREX ) – A shelter-in-place was issued Thursday evening after a man allegedly barricaded his house following a domestic dispute.

The incident began around 6:30 p.m. when the Grand Junction Police Department was dispatched to an assault in progress in the 2600 block of B 1/2 Road. A female told police she was assaulted during a domestic dispute by a male she knew.

Officers contacted the man who allegedly barricaded himself in his home. An arrest warrant for the suspect was then issued.

With the assistance of the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office SWAT teams, the GJPD took the suspect into custody around 4:15 a.m., Friday.

The man was identified as 46-year-old Bucky Burke, who was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility. He was charged with second and third-degree assault, false imprisonment and domestic violence with additional charges pending.

The shelter-in-place went out to 120 residents and has since been lifted, according to the GJPD.

The police department said in a press release that this was an isolated incident and there was no ongoing danger to the community. The incident remains under investigation and there’s no further information at the moment.
