MESA COUNTY, Colo. ( KREX ) – Mesa County Public Health announced Friday a recall of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products from BrucePac.

The recall – which involves around 10 million pounds of the product – is due to a potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. Public health said in a press release the products were distributed to retail stores nationwide and may have been sold in Mesa County.

The description of recalled products includes:

    • Ready-to-eat meat and poultry items.
    • Produced from June 19, 2024, to Oct. 8, 2024.
    • Products have establishment numbers of “51205” or “P-51205.”
    • See the full list of products recalled here .

MCPH said consumers should check their refrigerators for the recalled items and either throw the items away or return them to the store for a refund.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis that can cause a serious infection in young kids, older adults, individuals with weakened immune systems and pregnant women and their newborns.

Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and gastrointestinal issues. In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection in the newborn, according to MCPH.

Serious or fatal infections are possible in older adults and those with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis is treated with antibiotics.
