Neighborhood reacts to Pinyon Ave homicide including one who knew the teen

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. ( KREX ) — Back in January a head and pair of hands were found in a deep freezer on the 2900 block of Pinyon Avenue. The new owners stumbled upon the remains as they were cleaning up belongings left behind.

The remains belonged to then 16-year-old Amanda Overstreet, the daughter of the previous owners of the house. Overstreet was last seen in 2005, although there was no official report filed.

The neighbors said that the neighborhood is usually quiet, so the discovery left them shocked.

Many of them telling WesternSlopeNow how tragic this ordeal is. One neighbor even remembers seeing Overstreet around the block.

The investigation into who put those remains in the deep freezer is still on going.
