GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. ( KREX ) — The Colorado State Patrol and Grand Junction Police Department conducted a surge operation on the I-70 Business Loop to address aggressive driving and other traffic violations.

Trooper Sam Goure highlighted the initiative’s goal as “keeping people safe on the roads.”

During the five-hour operation, officers issued 50 citations, made four arrests and recorded one crash. Some drivers received warnings, while others faced tickets for offenses like speeding 18 miles per hour over the limit.

The hope is that the 77 traffic stops will encourage safer driving habits among Grand Junction residents to prevent future accidents.
