NBC Hanging on Tightly to Savannah Guthrie After Hoda Kotb Leaves Today Show

Hoda Kotb surprised television audiences when she revealed that her time as a morning co-host was ending at the end of 2024. Fans are eager to hear who’ll take her place when she is gone, but meanwhile, it has been reported that Hoda’s announcement upended one of her coworkers’ alleged plan to discuss her own exit.

Had the vet of Dateline NBC not gone public with her choice to leave her spot on Today, Hoda might’ve been the one expecting a new addition to the show, as some staff members of the network were under the impression that Savannah Guthrie was preparing for her exit plan. Now that one main host is exiting, the network is allegedly holding onto Savannah for dear life.

Guthrie replaced Ann Curry in 2012, and has been a beloved part of the Today show ever sinc that time; however, according to Page Six, the most recent behind-the-scenes discussions pointed to Guthrie getting ready for a departure after all of the election coverage. However, Hoda’s big reveal reportedly put a damper on these plans.

One early sign that tipped network staff members off to Guthrie’s alleged plan of exiting the Today Show was the publication of her new book on the NY Times bestseller list. Along with past statements concerning ‘not overstaying her welcome’ on the network series, her book had some thinking she was making plans for a life outside of the series.

It appears as if Savannah, for now, will stay in place for the rest of the 2024 television schedule along with Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb, and that she will continuously hold down the fort once Hoda leaves the building.
