In case you missed it, World Mental Health Day was on October 10.  Selena Gomez was candid about not sleeping inside her bedroom because it reminded her of "dark times," according to Elle.

At the time, Selena was in London and joined Mandy Teefey, her mom, and Minaa B., a licensed social worker, for a Wondermind’s Mental Fitness Summit keynote address.

In the address, Selena shared her own mental health experience and how it kept her isolated for a long time. She currently surrounds herself with a small community for support.

Gomez admits that she does not sleep in her own bedroom

Gomez's revelation came when she talked in a panel discussion regarding how to better take care of oneself while feeling overwhelmed.

Selena explains that she is an extremely anxious person. She says it is sort of like doomsday, and she thinks having a positive conversation with yourself is really impactful.

Selena released a documentary, referring to the 2022 movie 'My Mind & Me', dealing with her battle with bipolar depression and psychosis. She says she spent so much time in mother’s bedroom that she doesn’t even sleep in her own bedroom anymore, because she associates it with a “really dark time”.

Selena explained that being anxious is sometimes very debilitating, and she did not want to leave her bed for years, partly because she was not putting in the work. She says you have to believe in yourself in order to do the work that’ll really enlighten you.

The pop star’s take on social media platforms

The singer shared that she was attempting to make herself unapologetically truthful on social media regarding her mental health.

She acknowledged all of the support she got from her mom, and said, ‘My mother has always taught me that the noise will constantly be there, but it is all about finding a moment where she can actually say, ‘No, I’m a good person, I am kind, I am grateful, and love all of the little things in life', and she needs that reminder.
