    (The Fort Mason Drive-In)

The Sundance Film Festival launches this Thursday January 28, and it will screen films in a virtual format for the first time in its 40-plus-year history, in cities from Atlanta to Wichita.

Unfortunately, tickets for San Francisco's Fort Mason pop-up drive-in sold out quickly. We were hopeful that additional tickets would go on sale today, January 25, and it looks like that could happen at 1pm.

The ticket sales website has been updated to say: "A limited amount of additional tickets may be released on January 25 at 1pm."

So set your alarms and get your fingers ready to click quickly. Tickets are $49 per car, a decent deal if you bring the whole family. Plus, all ticket sales will benefit San Francisco's independent Roxie Film theater.

Sundance is working closely with local governments and public health officials to organize safe, in-person screenings using the drive-in model. San Francisco shut down drive-ins in early December, but the city has made an exception for a temporary Sundance drive-in.

Films that will be screened in San Francisco include:

    • CODA
    • Son of Monarchs
    • In The Earth
    • Together Together
    • Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go For It
    • My Name is Pauli Murray
    • R#J
    • First Date
    • Try Harder!
    • Users
    • Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir
    • Rebel Hearts

The screenings run from January 28 to February 2, and Fort Mason is the only satellite location for Sundance in Northern California. Be aware that SUVs will be relegated to the back of the audience so they don't block the view.
