BEAVERTON, Ore. - Skanska, a prominent global development and construction firm, has initiated construction to revamp the historic Beaverton High School, situated at 13000 S.W. 2nd Avenue. Spearheading this endeavor is Trevor Wyckoff, a distinguished 1994 graduate of Beaverton High, currently serving as Skanska's account manager and senior vice president for the project.

The redevelopment initiative encompasses a monumental 300,500-square-foot, three-story edifice enveloping a 15,500-square-foot, enclosed courtyard. This ambitious undertaking, with a budget exceeding $211 million designated for construction and building materials, constitutes the largest project within the Beaverton School District #48J’s 2022 bond.

Projected to be completed by fall 2026, the new infrastructure will not only cater to the educational requisites but also embrace communal functionalities, envisaging gathering, study, and flexible spaces conducive to enhanced learning experiences.

Employing innovative construction methodologies, the project will integrate prefabricated exterior walls fabricated offsite and subsequently transported for assembly. Furthermore, the incorporation of solar panels, skylights, and expansive windows aims to curtail electricity consumption while optimizing natural illumination within the premises.

"As a Beaverton High graduate, I’m honored to rebuild this school to better serve the existing and future student body," expressed Trevor Wyckoff, emphasizing Skanska’s commitment to surpassing community expectations and fostering a conducive learning environment. "I have confidence in Skanska’s ability to deliver a school that improves the student experience and exceeds the expectations of the community."

The revamped campus will accommodate a spectrum of amenities including a modernized performing arts area, athletic field enhancements, and upgraded academic facilities tailored to support the school's burgeoning career technical education curriculum.

Principal Andrew Kearl accentuated the project's significance, citing its potential to fortify student safety during construction while upholding the school's commitment to delivering a positive learning environment.

The rejuvenated infrastructure will also serve as a community evacuation center in times of disaster, epitomizing the institution's integral role within the broader societal framework.

Upon completion, the modernized campus will not only signify a new chapter in Beaverton High's illustrious legacy but also embody a testament to collaborative endeavors aimed at nurturing academic excellence and community resilience.
