    WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. — A tragic two-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 6 near milepost 49 in Washington County on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 1:08 a.m., claiming one life and critically injuring two others.

    Oregon State Police (OSP) reported that Leonardo Franco-Velazquez, 22, of Gold Bar, Washington, was driving a westbound GMC Sonoma when it crossed into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons, striking an eastbound Honda Accord head-on. Franco-Velazquez was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The passenger in the GMC, Fernanda Yamileth Gonzalez-Madera, 20, of Tukwila, Washington, was critically injured and transported to a nearby hospital. The Honda driver, Patrick James Jamieson, 65, of North Plains, also sustained critical injuries and was taken to a hospital.

    The highway was closed for approximately five hours while authorities conducted their investigation. OSP was assisted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Banks Fire.
