EUGENE, OR — A West Eugene business was heavily damaged after a 2nd alarm fire broke out early Sunday morning, September 15, 2024. Just after 3:00 AM, a Eugene Police officer was flagged down by a passerby who reported a fire in the 600 block of McKinley.

Within five minutes of dispatch, crews from Eugene Springfield Fire's Station 2 arrived on scene to find flames pouring out of the commercial building. As firefighters battled the intense blaze, a second alarm was called just nine minutes later to bring in additional support.

Fire crews worked swiftly to bring the fire under control. A total of 6 Engines, 3 Trucks, 3 Battalion Chiefs, 2 Medics, 2 Deputy Fire Marshals, and 1 Support Unit responded to the scene, preventing further spread of the fire. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

The fire remains under investigation, with officials working to determine the cause of the blaze.
