    North Port Recovers from Hurricane Milton, City Services and Support Resuming

    North Port, FL – City staff have been working daily to assess infrastructure, parks, and facilities as the community recovers from Hurricane Milton. City Hall and other offices will reopen on Tuesday, October 15, following the Columbus Day holiday.

    Emergency Call Center:
    The City’s Emergency Call Center will be available on October 13 and 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 941-429-7000.

    Supply Distribution:
    Sarasota County has opened a Point of Distribution (POD) at San Pedro Catholic Church, 14380 Tamiami Trail, providing food, water, and tarps daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

    Fuel Site:
    A state-run fuel distribution site at Suncoast Technical College, 4445 Career Lane, will open on October 13, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a 10-gallon limit per car. Visit FloridaDisaster.org/Updates for other fuel sites.

    Trash and Yard Waste Collection:
    Regular trash, recycling, and yard waste collection will resume on October 14. Bulk pickups will resume on October 21. Yard waste should be placed in brown containers or tied in 4-foot bundles for collection.

    Storm Debris:
    The Department of Public Works will manage debris internally as the Southeast focuses on cleanup from Hurricane Helene and Milton. Residents with larger debris piles can contact Public Works at 941-240-8050 or PWcustservice@NorthPortFL.gov for assistance.

    Sandbag Disposal:
    Sandbags should not be thrown away or placed in swales. Store them in a dry place for future use if they are not contaminated by floodwater.

    Damage Assessments:
    City staff are conducting site inspections in marked vehicles. Residents can report storm damage through the City’s online form.

    Business Assistance:
    Local businesses affected by Hurricane Milton can reach out to EconomicDevelopment@NorthPortFL.gov or 941-429-7000 for recovery support and information on disaster assistance.

    FEMA Assistance:
    Residents can apply for FEMA aid by calling 800-621-3362, visiting disasterassistance.gov, or using the FEMA app.
