Late-Night Chaos on I-5: Pedestrian Hit on I-5 Sparks Crash and Traffic Chaos in Seattle

Seattle, WA – A late-night collision on I-5 near 130th Street resulted in a pedestrian being struck and injured, causing a nearly three-hour closure of the roadway on October 13, 2024. The incident occurred when Angela R. Woodbrook, 28, of Lynnwood walked from the right shoulder into traffic and was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound.

According to the Washington State Patrol, vehicle one, a green 2010 NewFlyer bus, was traveling in the second lane when the driver, Tesfaye A. Delelu, 63, of Lynnwood, swerved into the third lane to avoid Woodbrook. Despite his efforts, the bus hit the pedestrian, who came to rest in the second lane.

The bus subsequently collided with vehicle two, a gray 2018 Kia Sorento driven by Heather E. Yingling, 39, of Shoreline, causing additional damage. No occupants of either vehicle sustained injuries. Yingling, along with two passengers, including a juvenile, pulled the Kia to the right shoulder, while the bus and injured pedestrian remained in the roadway.

Woodbrook was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. Authorities confirmed that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident.

The northbound lanes of I-5 were blocked for nearly three hours as responders cleared the scene and conducted their investigation.
