Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Freightliner on Hwy 97 in Klamath County

KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. – A pedestrian was killed in a collision with a Freightliner truck on Highway 97 near milepost 272 on October 17, 2024.

At around 9:33 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to the scene. The investigation revealed that a southbound Freightliner, driven by Usman Ahmad, 36, of Sacramento, California, struck Christian Lee Cleven Corwin, 38, of Klamath Falls, who had entered the road.

Corwin was pronounced dead at the scene. Ahmad was not injured.

The highway was closed for about an hour during the investigation. Oregon State Police were assisted by Klamath County Fire District 1, Klamath Falls Police Department, and ODOT.
