Jackson County, Ore. – On Thursday, October 17, 2024, at approximately 2:58 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 140 near milepost 31 in Jackson County.

Preliminary investigations revealed that an eastbound Chevrolet Colorado, driven by Fabiola Salcedo, 42, of Dorris, California, lost control and spun into the westbound lane, where it was struck on the passenger side by a westbound Subaru Forester operated by Danny Ray Ebert, 74, of La Pine.

Salcedo was pronounced dead at the scene. Ebert and his passenger, Phyllis Ann Ebert, 77, also of La Pine, suffered minor to serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital.

The highway was closed for approximately 2.5 hours during the investigation. The crash is believed to have been caused by roadway conditions and speed.

Oregon State Police were assisted by Jackson County Fire District 3, Lakecreek Fire Department, and ODOT.
