There won't be any Heat Advisories in place across North Texas on Wednesday or for the foreseeable future. There is rain and cooler temperatures in the seven-day forecast.

Wednesday morning featured some of the warmest early temperatures of the summer with readings in the low to mid 80s. However, an outflow boundary is surging in from the northwest. This boundary produced some scattered showers and isolated storms in the northwestern third of North Texas Wednesday morning. The boundary will start to weaken as it moves into the metroplex. A few scattered showers and maybe even a rumble of thunder could arrive through mid-morning.

The bigger weather change arrives Wednesday afternoon and evening as a weak cold front settles into the area from the north. This combined with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 90s will produce scattered showers and strong thunderstorms across 50% of the area. There is a risk of some damaging wind and small hail in the stronger storms, but not everyone will see rain in the second half of the day.

Scattered showers and storms will continue Wednesday night in some areas. It looks like the heaviest rain will be east of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Thursday morning lows will be rain-cooled with readings falling into the low to mid 70s.

This weak cold front will continue to sag south through the day Thursday taking the rain with it. However, there will be some leftover showers and storms just south and east of DFW through the early afternoon. Afternoon highs will be cooler with readings topping out near 90 degrees.

The rest of Friday through Saturday will be relatively quiet, but cooler with lower humidity during the afternoon. Readings will top out in the low 90s Friday, and mid-90s Saturday.

The next weather change slowly arrives Sunday through the middle of next week as an upper-level disturbance gets trapped across the state. This combined with daytime heating will produce scattered showers and storms starting on Sunday and lasting at least through the middle of next week. Temperatures will be cooler with highs only in the mid to upper 80s, falling into the 70s in the rain. The severity looks low, but some isolated flooding may occur near creeks, streams, and construction areas.

    7-Day Headlines
DFW reached 101 degrees on Tuesday, but there won't be any Heat Advisories on Wednesday. A late-day cold front will bring rain for some into Thursday. A few strong storms are possible. Threat: Damaging wind. Friday and Saturday are dry and a tad cooler. Rain chances return Sunday – Tuesday. No triple digits for a while.
