A bizarre story out of Arlington involving a 911 call, a shooting, and a burning brush.

The Arlington Police were called to a house on Connolly Terrace to check out reports of shots being fired. When they got to the house they found a fire in the backyard, spreading.

When they got inside the home, they found a 61-year-old woman who had been grazed by a bullet.

She told officers her husband had been dealing with mental health issues, and for some reason had started a fire in the backyard. She screamed at him to put it out but she says he refused, grabbed a gun, and fired at her. That's when she ran to a neighbor's house and called 9-1-1.

They found the man in the backyard under a pile of burning brush. An officer immediately tried to pull the man out from underneath and got burned in the process. The officer was taken to the hospital but has since been released.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but police say he died overnight.

The man that tried to rescue the 61 year old man is a hero! I have had 3rd and 4th degree burns and it's terrible. I couldn't reach into a fire to rescue anyone. It makes me cower and shake just thinking about it! Truly heroic!
