Heat Advisories are back for most of North Texas on Thursday and will likely stick around through the weekend. There could be a pattern change in about a week.

Thursday began with temperatures down into the 70s east of North Texas and in the upper 70s in the immediate Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The center of the upper-level ridge of high pressure backed off to the west of North Texas. That's where the hottest temperatures will be Thursday through the weekend. Afternoon highs in these areas will be well over 100 degrees with Excessive Heat Warnings. There will be plenty of sunshine on Thursday with highs in the upper 90s with a decent breeze.

A few clouds will roll through Thursday night with morning lows in the upper 70s to nearly 80 degrees. Afternoon highs on Friday will approach 100 degrees and it will be hotter to the west and cooler to the east of DFW.

The weekend looks hot and dry with afternoon highs in the upper 90s. Heat index values will be slightly above 105.

Next Monday through Wednesday will be mostly sunny, hot, and dry. Afternoon highs will approach 100 degrees at DFW. After that, there could be a pattern change by Labor Day weekend. Rain and slightly cooler temperatures may invade Texas.
