DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- State Fair of Texas President Mitchell Glieber remains confident the new weapons ban policy will remain in effect.

The new rules were announced last week, partly in response to a shooting at the fair last year that injured three. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton says citizens should be allowed to carry guns and has threatened suit if the policy is not reversed.

The Dallas City Council has been holding meetings over the question but has not announced its position. But no matter which way the city decides, Glieber says they are up in the air whether they would follow the city's directive.

The state's deadline is next week.
