Rain chances increase and cooler temperatures arrive across North Texas toward the holiday weekend. There won't be any Heat Advisories or Excessive Heat Warnings anytime soon.

Tuesday began with temperatures in the 70s. There are a few showers and thunderstorms about 150 miles south of the metroplex down Interstate 35 toward Austin. There will be more showers and thunderstorms popping in these areas Tuesday as well as the southeastern parts of our state.

Some of the storms will sneak into parts of North Texas later Tuesday afternoon as temperatures warm up into the mid to upper 90s today. Any storms that do sneak into the area will dissipate by sunset.

For Wednesday, late afternoon and early evening showers and storms will redevelop anywhere across North Texas. A few more than what we'll see on the radar today. High temperatures will once again be in the mid to upper 90s. Heat index around 102.

Showers and storms will be more isolated again on Thursday with highs in the mid to Upper 90s.

The weather Friday through the holiday weekend will include a slow-moving cold front and scattered showers and thunderstorms anywhere across North Texas. Wherever this front decides the stall will be the highest coverage area for rain. While nothing severe is expected, a few could be strong and contain dangerous lightning, brief heavy rain, and gusty wind.
