HARRIS COUNTY (1080 KRLD)- A tragedy happened in Houston Tuesday morning when a Harris County Sheriff's Deputy was shot and killed while sitting in his patrol car. A person of interest is under arrest.

Police say Deputy Maher Husseini was on his way to work and stopped an at intersection when someone got out of their car, walked up to his vehicle and shot him. Constable Mark Herman says this is a tragic day for the area.

Police say hours after the shooting they caught up with the man they believe is responsible for the shooting. He led them on a chase, into Galveston and into the water. Eventually, police got him out.

For now, they are calling him a person of interest.

They label this all wrong from the start. It’s Harris County Constable Deputy not Sheriff. 2 different agencies!
