FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD)- A Fort Worth man with mental health issues has been convicted of murder and sentenced to prison.

At one point in 2021, Jonathan Benami had been hired by a home flipper to be a night watchman at a property on Eagle Drive. He was later fired from that job. But in September of that year, Benami broke back in. He was there when 74-year-old Tony Clark showed up to resume working. Benami attacked Clark, stabbing him to death.

The jury convicted Benami of the murder charge. It was during the sentencing hearing, that the jury was told about Benami's schizophrenia, and that he thought there were people on the walls of the house that were trying to eat him... and that led to the attack.

The defense asked for a lower sentence but the jury assessed punishment at 70 years.
