Some leftover cloud cover and light rain from Francine today and then the heat is on across North Texas tomorrow through the middle of next week.

We're waking up to considerable cloudiness, mild temperatures and muggy conditions. Please keep in mind you might run into some patchy drizzle, especially in the eastern half of North Texas this morning. Temperatures are in the upper 60s to low 70s. Keep your umbrella handy today, especially if you live east of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Afternoon highs will remain in the 80s underneath the cloud cover, near 90 if you see abundant sunshine, but that will be mainly west of DFW out towards Mineral Wells and Bridgeport.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, mild and muggy with morning lows 65 to 70°.

The heat is on starting tomorrow ,lasting through the middle of next week, as an area of high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere dominates our weather. There is a slight chance for some showers, well to the east of the Dallas-Fort Worth area late Saturday and again late Sunday, but I think we'll stay dry here. Afternoon highs tomorrow will reach the middle 90s, upper 90s Saturday through Monday, and back into the mid 90s for Tuesday and Wednesday. As of now, I don't see any significant pattern change through the rest of next week.

Quick update on Tropical Storm Francine... wind as of 4:00 a.m. is now down to 45 mph. It's located about 70 Mi north of New Orleans and will continue moving north at 10 to 12 mph. It will then stall somewhere near Memphis Tennessee tomorrow night. This will produce widespread areas of flooding across the southeast stretching north into the Tennessee River Valley. Francine did come ashore yesterday a little after 3:00 p.m. packing winds of 100 mph. At last check, New Orleans has seen up to 8 inches of rain so far, but the rain is tapering off there as I'm typing this.

If you have travel plans to St Louis, Memphis, Jackson, MS, or the panhandle of Florida.. prepare for delays due to the areas of very heavy rain.
