Severe weather is gone and cooler weather will replace it through the rest of the week. A warming trend is on the way this weekend into early next week.

Residents across southeastern Denton and southwestern Collin counties were awakened to hail up to the size of golfballs Wednesday morning. Many areas experienced pocket change-size hail. The rain and storms pressed off to the south and east of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

A cold front is south of DFW as well. We'll look for cooler and drier air to continue to filter into the area through the rest of the week with afternoon highs and the low 80s on Wednesday, mid-80s on Thursday, and near 80 on Friday. Morning lows will be in the 60s, with a smattering of 50s in some of the outlying areas.

This weekend will be warm and dry with afternoon highs in the mid-80s on Saturday, and upper 80s on Sunday.

The warming trend will continue into early next week with highs pushing 90 degrees on Monday and Tuesday. Another cold front will push through the area late Tuesday cooling us down into Wednesday and Thursday.

In other news, soon to become Hurricane Helene is entering the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Landfall will be in the Big Bend of Florida late Thursday with maximum sustained wind as high as 120 mph. That's a strong Category 3 hurricane. It may even be stronger than that. Helene will have no impact on our weather here across Texas, except some high clouds moving into the area on Friday.
