It seems like North Texas has been waiting forever for a big weather change and it finally arrived Wednesday morning. It was 93 degrees on Tuesday, in the 50s Wednesday morning, and will be only 68 degrees Wednesday afternoon.

A strong cold front moved through the area Tuesday night, bringing 35 mph wind gusts and much cooler temperatures. A north wind gusting to 30 mph will continue through the morning, relaxing to 10 to 20 mph this afternoon. It will be sunny and cool Wednesday with afternoon highs in the upper 60s. The average high this time of the year is 79 degrees.

Be on the lookout for the "Super" Hunter Moon Wednesday evening as it rises on the eastern horizon. Comet Atlas on the western horizon, 45 minutes after sunset. Clear skies and calm wind will allow temperatures to fall anywhere between 37 and 47 degrees by Thursday morning.

There will be plenty of sunshine for Thursday as the south wind slowly returns. Temperatures will still be well below average with afternoon highs in the low 70s.

That south wind really picks up on Friday with gusts to 30 mph. Plenty of sunshine and still very pleasant for this time of the year. Afternoon highs will only reach the mid-70s.

There will be a bit more cloud cover into the weekend as a system out in far West Texas and the Texas Panhandle brings them some welcome rain, unfortunately, nothing for us. Afternoon highs will top out near 80 degrees on both days. There is a very high grass fire danger Wednesday, Friday, and through the weekend.

No major changes to start next week. A southerly wind will prevail with afternoon highs reaching the low 80s on Monday and mid 80s by next Tuesday. It looks like the next decent front won't arrive until the following weekend.
