Washington, DC (KROC-AM News) - The Biden Administration today approved a Major Disaster Declaration for portions of Minnesota due to the recent severe weather and flooding. The White House says the declaration frees up federal disaster assistance to state, tribal, eligible local governments, and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis. The federal money is available for repairing or replacing facilities damaged by the storms and floods that began on June 16.
Man Murdered Outside Amazon Warehouse in Lakeville
Lakeville, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man was shot to death early this morning in the parking lot of the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Lakeville. A news release issued by the Lakeville Police Department says officers were sent to the Amazon facility about 4 AM Saturday and found an adult man in the parking lot with a suspected gunshot wound. Officers, along with other emergency responders, attempted lifesaving measures but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kenyon Woman Killed in Collision With Deer Near Zumbrota
Zumbrota, MN (KROC-AM News) - An encounter last with a deer on a Highway in Goodhue County claimed the life of a Kenyon woman. The State Patrol says the deadly incident was reported at 9:30 PM on Highway 60 about a mile west of Zumbrota. The preliminary crash report indicates 35-year-old Samantha Diane Johnson was driving a Dodge Neon west on Highway 60 when the car made contact with a deer.
Minnesota Took in 16% More Than Expected in Tax Revenues in May
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota tax collections were significantly higher than expected last month. A monthly report issued by the Minnesota Office of Management and Budget shows the state's net general fund revenues exceeded $2.1 billion in May. The total was $304 million or 16.7% above the amount that was predicted by the most recent State Revenue Forecast.
